AUTISM SPECTRUM SUPPORT GROUP
OF LEBANON COUNTY
The purpose of this group is to provide information ,
education and support to parents of children with a diagnosis within the
Autism Spectrum.
The History of ASSG
ASSG of Lebanon County
was started by Faithe Wagner in 1999 . She felt there was a need
for Autism Support for parents and children in Lebanon County. It became a group learning experience . The group started with a few parents and
with Faithe as the group facilitator .The meetings are held at the
Fairland Brethren in Christ Church in Annville ,Pa ,where anyone is
welcome to attend with no membership fees . In 2001 ASSG launched their
web site with meetings , schedules and information for parents . We also
send routine emails to members. Members slowly increased . In January
2004 ASSG had an article posted in the local newspaper. The article
gained ASSG much attention . Speakers are asked to come to pass on
information about Autism .Then in April 2004 ASSG gained sponsorship
from WWW.ABOARD.ORG . ASSG has
a snail mail monthly letter that we send to about 90 addresses. Members
of ASSG volunteered for the Harrisburg Autism Conference for ABOARD
featuring Dr.Temple Grandin and sharing lunch with Dr. Grandin .ASSG in
2004 went on to hold several events for parents and children .Such as our
Annual Autism Picnic , 2 separate Swimming Parties , Hayride & Barn Party
and Christmas Party . So we welcome you to join a group where
parents care , no membership fee is charge and events are fun
where the kids can be themselves
